James Lawes

James is a director with an eye for the impossible. Sure, it makes us wince sometimes when we need to figure out how to make a camera go from being upside down on a car’s speedometer to then travelling through the sunroof before coming through the windscreen of another car, but hey — that’s James. He likes figuring out inventive ways of doing the impossible as much as he likes KFC (a lot). He is known for his emotive, visceral films and his ability to get strong performances from both actors and non-actors alike. His style mixing the authentic with the sometimes otherwordly.

Through his distinctive mix of in-camera visual effects and highly considered, cinematic style, he brings a touch of the unexpected to the everyday. His skills and body of work have not gone unnoticed, winning him awards at Cannes, EvCom and the New York Film Festival.

James has directed commercials and content for clients like Chevrolet, Age UK, Renault and McDonalds.
